Stop Motion Animation Magic

Spent a lot of weekend editing a stop motion music video. All I can say is that editing stop motion ain’t easy. It’s a process of cutting one frame at a time and fine tuning each frame by hand – so there’s no such thing as instant gratification at all in this. It gets kinds of frustrating because being deeply absorbed in frames, you get tunnel vision and start to see each single frame only for each single frame, as a static artifact with no context, and not seeing that frame’s part in the entire whole.

But when you work for hours on end, then you stop, hit rewind, exhale, sip in air slowly, press play and exhale while you watch 1 minute your work unfold in front of you ….. it’s 1 minute of the purest magic.

The Pictures Generation – Exhausted

The music video that I edited for The Pictures Generation is live!  The song “Exhausted” is great.  I think you will all love the work that we did 🙂

Fitz Henley explores lyrics to E.B.T. – N.Y.C.

In my latest short film, Fitz Henley explores deeper meanings and spiritual themes in his hip hop lyrics.  Topics include, inner progression, living for fame vs living for nobility, music is a healing remedy, and of particular interest to people of African American descent is his discussion of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome.

After viewing this clip, you may be interested in watching it’s companion piece, E.B.T. – N.Y.C. by Fitz Henley and Akka (LIVE) which is a live performance of the song that Fitz Henley explores above.

Bam The Liquid Robot – Dance Reel

Bam The Liquid Robot – Promo Reel

I am very proud that this video has generated over 787,000 YouTube hits so far!

Bam The Liquid Robot is a promo reel that I edited for one of my clients. Bam the Liquid Robot is a professional dancer who has performed in feature films, TV commercials and music videos. Bam also produces his own music. He asked me to cut a dancers reel from highlights of his footage over the past 20 years, over one of his own tracks.

This video is a montage of the evolution of Bam’s dance and choreography work spanning over two decades. It includes footage from his singing, dancing and recording performances, such as: Individual Funk, Centro Cristiano Calvario “The Chosen”, Metro, a battle with Speedy, a performance with Soul Majestics, ESPN, the feature film China Girl, his own interpretation of The Matrix, and a solo dance in the Bahamas.

Bam’s wish is to reach audiences of all ages and colors, with the true gift of urban entertainment. That he may lift their spirits and share something in life that is most valuable:
The Love of God.

Lyrics:
Bam!
Dont’ stop. Ready to rock
Straight to the top
Do it non-stoppin’
Bam!
(repeat)

Are you ready to party tonight
this is your invite
here’s a chance to do what you like
cause it’s all right, all right

For years my trials holding me down
breaking through like grass through the ground
making me strong to stay heaven bound
holding me like raising up sound

The years of pressure making me like a diamond
getting me right like a wedding day marriage
the hood. the stress. I rock ready to bless
I used to rock with the best, but now Jesus is my thesis

Bam!
Dont’ stop. Ready to rock
Straight to the top
Do it non-stoppin’
Bam!
(repeat)

Are you ready to party tonight
this is your invite
here’s a chance to do what you like
cause it’s all right, all right

…. didn’t bring me to my knees
instead it let me see the real life of the street
I express the beat, DJ, Emcee, Graffitti rocking
b-boy that’s me

I watched my back, never sold crack
and when things got hard I was forced to lean back
but now I’m standing, changing the visioning
You got two ears, one mouth so do more listening

Bam!
Dont’ stop. Ready to rock
Straight to the top
Do it non-stoppin’
Bam!
(repeat)
